Claw is a 2D game that has Monolith elements, but it’s not very well known. This detailed Adrenaline Vault review explains why players should try it: "Set in the 15th century, Clow takes us to a parallel universe where the known world is ruled by Coker's Spanish empire. Instead of playing as a human, cyborg, or monster like in other game systems, you play against a virtual character – you!
Your role on this great voyage – the most famous captain and owner of the seven seas, Captain Nathaniel J. McGregor. The king, tired of your audacity, puts a million gold coins on your head, whether you are dead or alive. The game begins with you trying to escape a Spanish prison and searching to find a powerful gem that should give its owner the secrets of the Twelve Lives Talisman.
Claw is designed to play 14 main stages, with each stage forcing you to continue on the journey as the Talisman of Resurrection. So, how big is it? Well, the first three levels will take you twenty minutes, but once you reach the third level, the Black Forest, it can take you an hour or so. Each level is unique, and the center screen takes you deeper into the story than you could possibly imagine, but Claw does it in a way. For example, when you break out of La Roca prison, you fight on the battlefield against your captors. After killing him, which isn't easy, head to the Footpath, then to the Green Forest. At certain points in the game, you’ll see animated graphics that will tell you more about the story. These places are professional and the quality rivals any Disney movie I have ever seen.
